Tim Edey is regarded by many people to be one of the finest multi-instrumental players of his generation in the Celtic music folk scene worldwide! From a rich heritage of both Irish, Scottish and English Folk Music - Along with some classical music thrown in for good measure.
Tim's Mother with Irish Roots, his Father a guitarist/singer with a direct family link to the acclaimed and hugely respected English composer Edmund Rubbra, music has very much been part of Tim's life from an early age.
Coming from Broadstairs in Kent, a coastal town where the sea serves as an important role in everyday life, the sea has served as a major influence and inspiration to Tim's creativity.
Tim currently plays solo, & with his band the Tim Edey Collective featuring Perthshire singer Isobel Crowe, Peter Gazey or Marc Clement on guitars.
With legendary Irish singer and king of the box Seamus Begley as a duo, Brendan Power as a duo, Charlie McKerron of Capercaillie and Marc Clement as a trio, and with many other artists as a (session man) mostly for Michael McGoldrick, Sharon Shannon, Altan, Ross Ainslie, Anne Brennan, Kate Purcell, Dimitris Michailaidis and others.
A mixture of dazzling technical ability, soulful feel, musical charisma and amazing instrumental improvisaton have made Tim a highly demanded musician (both in the studio + on stage.) Newly being awarded BBC Radio Two's "Musican of the year 2012"
He is a current master of more than ten instruments including; melodoen, accordeon, guitar, banjo, bass, piano, mandolin, whistle, bodhran and bouzouki.
To date Tim has appeared live on BBC Radio Two's Folk Awards 2012 to pick up "Musician of the year" & "Best Duo"; Has appeared with The Chieftains on RTE for a 50th Anniversary Christmas Special. Recorded for Christy Moore's latest album. Toured Australia with Brendan Power 2012. Toured Austria, Europe & Canada with his Tim Edey Collective 2011.
Tim made an appearance on the Jools Holland show on the BBC a couple of years ago with the Brendan Power Trio.
He has also to his many credits, literally toured every country in Europe as a melodoen player with German based dance troupe Magic of the dance with world champion dancer Michael Donnellan.
Tim composed a track for Sharon Shannon, Little Bird, which appears on Sharons latest cd ..the Sharon Shannon collection.
He features on the new groundbreaking album Wired by Michael McGoldrick, has been resident guitarist on the hugely popular Irish dance show Irish folk ballet company on board Cruising ship m/s Silja Serenade and Silja Europa for two years running in Scandinanvia.
Played gigs with; Phil Cuningham, Charlie McKerron, Donald Shaw, Julie Fowlis, John McCusker, Eammon Doorley, Ed Boyd+Flook, Steafan Hannigan, Alan Prosser from The Oyster band, played with the Michael McGoldrick trio and Session A9 whom he is a member of, to more than 15,000 people in galicia+on stage with Donal Lunny+Altan, did a Huge Uk tour with Sharon Shannon and the woodchoppers in the year 2000 including the Royal albert hall with Paul Brady, Hothouse flowers and more, and appears on numerous recordings with:
